Andreas on rostrum in Swedish GP!

AJ finished 3rd in the Swedish Grand Prix tournament taking place in the rainy Gothenburg!

Struggling with unlucky gates in the middle part of the tournament, AJ had to finish at least second in his fifth race of the day to qualify for the semi... And so did he! Then Andreas once again crossed the finish line second making it to the final! Having to run off the worst gate of the day in the final AJ didn't have much chance but he got to pass Greg Hancock and jumped onto the rostrum of the Swedish Grand Prix!

It was a very tough meeting where start gates and bike set-ups were crucial. Every rider in SGP knows how to ride and setting up your bike properly is the most important factor to succeed at such tricky track.

I'm satisfied with this result, as well as with my team's work. We proved today we can deal with pressure and stay focused. I won my first race but then I had to start from the very unlucky gate two. I stayed at the gate and could not do much later. The atmosphere became tensed after my third race because we were simply losing it then ... Thankfully we dealt with all emotions very well then, I won my next heat and sealed qualifying for the semi in my last race. It was my aim for today because semis and finals are always a bit of a lottery, especially at such tracks where it is very hard to fight and pass.

This result makes me feel I'm back in the game after my poor performance at Leszno. I'm really looking forward to the next Grand Prix in Prague now! It was not easy to work out this track and I'm glad none got injured today. At the briefing before the meeting I asked why the track hadn't been covered and I was told the organisers decided that a wet track was going to provide better show than if it was very slick and dusty. After the meeting it actually turned out that the best solution would be covering it and then discovering about 30 minutes before the first race. But we are all learning, of course, and it's important that Tony Olsson and other people running SGP are open minded and listen to others' suggestions.

I think this 3rd place is a great prize for everyone working to promote this tournament. I took a part in a few promo actions as well and if I hadn't succeeded today it would not look good now. Finishing on the rostrum makes more sense to all these actions now and sums them up well, I think.
