Lukasz Romanek Memorial Tournament

Andreas Jonsson finished 4th in the Lukasz Romanek Memorial Tournament at Rybnik tonight. AJ scored 12 points in the main part of the meeting and qualified for the final where he lost to Pedersen, Gollob and Holta after some brilliant fight.

Memorial tournaments are specific kind of meetings - says AJ. They are organised to honour someone and the result is not a matter of life and death. It's more important to show some good racing and provide fans lots of entertainment. I didn't want to put too much pressure on myself before this meeting then. Sports anger is needed at GP tournaments and league matches, but not really before such friendly meetings. However, today's tournament was not easy. The line up was really strong. Lots of great riders who made a really good show tonight, I think.

12 points is not a bad result but deep down I know it could have been a bit better. Especially that the track was perfect and my bikes worked very well. Nonetheless, I'm coming back to Bydgoszcz satisfied. We were quite lucky with the weather too. It's rainy in the whole country but it didn't rain in Rybnik, thankfully. Only Janusz Kolodziej was not lucky today, I heard he might have got his collarbone injured - this would be a real shame.

Tomorrow morning I'm flying home to Sweden and the only advantage of cancelling tomorrow's match is having one day extra for my family. Then Elitserien on Tuesday and another busy weekend with Speedway Grand Prix and Polish Ekstraliga.
