Polonia Bydgoszcz beat Unia Tarnow 48:42 in one of those 'to be or not to be' matches of this year's Speedway Ekstraliga.Bydgoszcz have been struggling for weeks because of Emil Sayfutdinov's injury and meetings against Czestochowa and Tarnow, two other teams from the bottom of the Ekstraliga table, are especially important. Andreas was the best rider of tonight's match and scored 14 points.
I am very relieved after this match - says Andreas - we won and finally we have gone through some really tough time for us all. Pressure before today's meeting was massive, everyone in the team was unbelievably tense. I was afraid of this match because to ride on a speedway bike you must be motivated and concentrated, not tense and nervous. Thankfully though, we managed to deal with this pressure and we won!
As for my performance, I am happy with those 14 points I scored today. It's a decent result. I didn't struggle with running off the gate today which had been a major problem recently. Also, finally we could face our fans after a match because earlier they didn't seem too happy, needless to say, and served us lots of boos and unpleasant shouts. Tonight the atmosphere by the pits was way better, thankfully...
